Where Does Drew Brees Live? Inside His Homes Across America

Celeb

Drew Brees was someone you respected even if you weren’t a Saints fan. Twenty seasons, a Super Bowl, records that stood for years. After he retired in 2021 I got curious about where someone like that actually plants roots and the answer turned out to be more spread out and more interesting than I expected.

New Orleans: Where Home Actually Is (Drew Brees House)

When Brees joined the Saints in 2006 he went out and bought a place on Audubon Street in Uptown New Orleans that same year and paid $1.6 million for it.

The place has 10,800 square feet in it across four bedrooms and five bathrooms. You walk in through iron lace doors and there is a crystal chandelier hanging above a foyer with hardwood floors going from there through the whole house.

The kitchen is built around a large granite island and upstairs the master suite has a fireplace in it along with a jacuzzi tub and separate walk-in closets for him and his wife. Out back there is a swimming pool, a courtyard and gardens.

Austin: The Childhood House He Bought Back

Brees grew up in Austin and at some point he went back and purchased his childhood home in the North University neighbourhood. The house dates to 1933 and sits on nearly half an acre which is rare for that part of the city. It backs up to a creek and still has the original smaller closets from the 1930s inside. The property has history beyond his own childhood too. It was previously owned by Harley Clark, the man who invented the hook em horns hand signal at the University of Texas.

He is also tied into the Austin Surf Club, a 330-acre development being built southeast of Austin around a large artificial wave pool. Discovery Land Co is behind the project in partnership with surfer Kelly Slater and memberships are averaging $1.25 million with home sites averaging $2.25 million alongside.

Montana: The Treehouse He Built Then Sold

In 2023 Brees got the Treehouse Masters crew to come out to his 20-acre property near Whitefish in Montana and put up a double A-frame guesthouse that they raised 15 feet off the ground.

Four bedrooms went into the 1,700 square foot structure when it was finished.

Three of those bedrooms sit in lofted areas above the main floor and the primary bedroom is on the ground level with a Juliet balcony off it.

The entry door was made from salvaged redwood pulled out of old water tanks in California. Douglas fir and whitewashed oak went down across the floors and natural hemlock paneling got fitted across the walls running through the whole place.

The kitchen came out with poured concrete countertops, a tile backsplash behind them and a farmhouse sink fitted in. The bathroom got a freestanding soaking tub put in along with dual vanities and a glass enclosed shower.

A set of French doors from the living area push open onto a deck that has a propane fire pit sitting out on it.

In 2024 Brees decided to put the whole 20-acre estate up for auction and bidding was expected to open somewhere around $2 million.

San Diego and Beyond

Back in 2003 Brees and his wife bought a 6,000 square foot Mediterranean style property in Fairbanks Highlands in Carmel Valley for $2.2 million. The house had a two-sided fireplace shared between the living room and a custom sports bar and the backyard was built around a resort style lanai with a full kitchen and a guest house that included a private sauna and steam shower.

His first San Diego property was a three storey townhouse in Mission Valley with dual master suites on the top floor. In Lafayette, Louisiana he built a 49,000 square foot family entertainment facility called Surge Entertainment Centre in 2019 that still operates today.
